North American Circuit – Lake Placid, NY – 2man Races 2021

Location: Lake Placid, NY USA

Sled waits upside down in Parc Fermé before the race. This is a secure area where race officials check the sled for legalities.
Heat 1 of a 2man race with pilot Taylor Austin on my left. After the “bing bong” sound chimes, we have 60s to get set and start our run.
A 2nd place finish! A 121.8 km/h top speed, and travelled the 1455m track in 56.4s
2nd place finish with pilot Taylor Austin.
2nd 2man race was with pilot Pat Norton (Ottawa, ON)
A start time of 5.14s gave us the lead by 0.05s entering the first corner of the track… not really sure what happened the rest of the way down but ended with a (5+1) 6th place finish! 😋
Starting grooves are cut into the ice keeping the sled straight for the push and load.
The pilot (Pat Norton here) loads first, and the brakeman second.
I’m there… you just can’t see me trying to stay low behind the pilot!
